Call for Case Proposals

The School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University-Newark is looking for case studies to advance the classroom learning experience of students pursuing public and nonprofit management studies. We are especially interested in case studies that address contemporary topics in the public and nonprofit sectors with real-time practical applications.

Proposals of interest could address one of the following topics:

  • Public/Nonprofit Administration
  • Organizational Theory
  • Human Resources and Diversity
  • Decision Making
  • Politics/Policy Making
  • Multi-Level Governance/Networking
  • Performance Measurement and Management
  • Program Evaluation
  • Budgeting and Finance
  • Leadership
  • Ethics
  • Technology
  • Community Service/Citizen Participation
  • Future Opportunities and Issues

Case studies may be based on real-world events or fictionalized situations, if relevant to one of the suggested topics. Most importantly, articles must bring application to the field of study and key questions that lead to classroom discussions.  It is preferred that case studies be linked to multi-media sources – news, videos, movies, social networks, and others.

A proposal should be double spaced, one page, and using 12-point font size. Following items should be included in each proposal:

  • Summary of a single or multiple case study, linked to real-time and place-based public or nonprofit organizational issues (no more than 250 words)
  • Discussion of primary topics/issues/problems
  • Application of the case study to classroom learning and teaching
  • Multimedia links that support the case study
  • Author(s)’ name, title, affiliation, and contact information
